    Ray’s Inspirational Journey With Epilepsy When Ray was born, his parents had no reason to believe he had a problem. An ultrasound during pregnancy had shown a low amount of amniotic fluid. After 20 hours of labor, a C-section was performed. At first, doctors noted he was a bit pale and lethargic, but felt he was well enough to be sent home. They had no idea he had epilepsy.

    During her pregnancy, Matilde’s mother found it difficult to eat because she was often nauseated. She needed frequent bed rest. In the seventh month, an ultrasound showed that the baby’s weight was low. Mother noted that during her pregnancy with Matilde’s older sister, the baby had kicked and responded more to sounds. After a painful labor, Matilde was born. During the first month, she was too quiet and rarely cried.

    Dennis’s parents realized he first had a problem when he was 6 months old. He was not able to hold up his head on his own, and was not gaining weight. At 11 months of age he started having grand mal seizures. Then multiple anticonvulsant medications were prescribed for him. Looking for ways to help him, his parents consulted various doctors and therapists. He was diagnosed as having cerebral palsy, severe developmental delay and epilepsy.
