1. What is the best first step to take if I want to teach my baby?
If you are most interested right now in intellectual growth, you may begin by reading the book or studying the video How To Teach Your Baby To Read. If you are most interested in creating a physical program for your baby, you should read the book or study the video How To Teach Your Baby To Be Physically Superb.
2. My child is four years old, not a baby, and I just learned about the program. Is it too late to attend the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course?
No, it is not too late.
We are all capable of learning throughout our lives. A child of four is still learning at a tremendous rate. But you don't need to wait until you have attended the course to create a more stimulating environment for your child. Start by reading How To Teach Your Baby To Read or How To Teach Your Baby To Be Physically Superb.
It's never too late, but there is no time like the present to get going.
3. Do I have to be at home full-time to do the program?
No, you do not need to be at home full-time to do the program
Each family decides the amount of time and energy that mother and father wish to devote to the program.
Parents who read the book How To Teach Your Baby To Read–or any of our other books–use whatever part of the knowledge they gain to create a more effective and stimulating environment at home for their children.
Parents who attend the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course are encouraged to design a home program that they can do consistently and that they feel is best for their children and family.
The Institutes Alumni Association is designed for parents who have graduated from the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course and who wish to have regular contact with The Institutes to receive help and guidance when they need it. Full-time mothers and full-time fathers often enroll in this program, but it is not restricted to full-time parents.
4. As a father I feel my role is very important. Is the course for fathers too?
Absolutely.
Some of the very best mothers are fathers, which is to say that fathers are superb teachers too.
About 30% of the parents enrolled in each How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course are fathers. They feel very strongly that their role in the development of their children is vital. We agree.
5. I am grandparent and I am very involved with my grandchildren. Is the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course for me?
Grandparents have a unique role in the early lives of their grandchildren. When they know how the brain grows and why it grows as it does, they become a powerful force in creating a stimulating and exciting environment for their grandchildren. They can then join in the fun of teaching the baby with mother and father as well as helping to find resource books and helping to prepare teaching materials. One of the pleasures of giving the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course is meeting the grandparents who are in every course we give.
6. If I have read all of The Institutes books, will taking the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course really make a difference?
Well, of course, we think so.
But here is what parents who have read the books and taken the course have to say:
"This course was so much more than I ever dreamed it would be. I had no idea I would walk away a different person in every sense of the word."
- Mrs. Karen Olsen, USA
"The best thing about the course was the demonstrations by the children. The children are the concrete reality. They are not theory."
–Tennyson LeMaster, USA
"The course redefines motherhood and places it on the same level as the most socially and financially rewarded professions in our society. The course eliminates any doubts a mother may have as to the value of her role to society and civilization."
– Rama Sifri, CANADA
In addition, the course teaches parents about The Institutes Developmental Profile, nutrition, how to teach a foreign language, and how to teach music theory and music appreciation. Parents have the opportunity to meet mothers and children of The Evan Thomas Institute and the opportunity to ask the staff their individual questions. New parents have found these aspects of the course to be invaluable.
7. I am a nursing mother. Can I attend the course?
It is ideal for a mother to attend the course when she is pregnant. However, when this is not possible we do not recommend the course for nursing mothers. It is a hardship for mother and baby to be separated for a full week while the baby is still nursing.
We encourage mothers to wait until the baby is no longer nursing and can be left at home in competent and loving hands.
In the meantime, the books and videos provide the nursing mother with a wealth of information that will enable her to get started at what ever level she wishes to do so.
8. I live far from The Institutes. Should I leave my child at home or bring him with me while I attend the course.
In our many years of experience in presenting the How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course we have found that it is far better to leave the baby at home in loving and competent hands. There are no facilities at The Institutes for child care. The baby is happier at home and mother or father can attend the course without worrying about the baby being in a hotel all day or having their own sleep disturbed at night. We have found that, especially for mother, the course week is a time for her to have a break and pamper herself a little while simultaneously gaining precious knowledge to take home to her baby.
9. Can I send my baby-sitter to the course?
The How To Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence Course is for parents, because our experience has taught us that parents are the best teachers for their children. There is a very large difference between the love and respect parents have for their child and the love and respect a baby-sitter may have for a child. We strongly believe that the happy and relaxed atmosphere which is essential to a good program can only be created by mother and father.
In addition, we can only present this course a few times each year. Each place is precious to us and to the parents who attend. Although parents do pay a tuition, it does not cover the cost of giving the course. This means that The Institutes must find the funds to make up the difference. This is an ongoing struggle. In essence, each parent attending receives a partial scholarship provided by The Institutes. Since this is the case, we feel strongly that these scholarships should be reserved for parents.
10. I am professional educator, not a parent. How can I learn more about the work of The Institutes?
The Institutes have welcomed thousands of educators from all over the world. Professionals who wish to receive information or visit The Institutes should contact The How To Multiply Course Registrar.
